Governed by ISO 4064 and OIML R49 international metrological standards, these precision instruments enable water directorates in Baghdad, Erbil, Basra, and Mosul to install high-performance electromagnetic metering without the prohibitive expense, civil excavation, and public disruption of pipeline shutdowns or dewatering.
The insertion probe is constructed from robust AISI 316L stainless steel or corrosion-proof Hastelloy C276, equipped with dual electromagnetic coils and high-purity ceramic or PEEK-insulated sensing electrodes. Operating on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, the sensor detects fluid velocities from 0.05 m/s to 12 m/s with an installed accuracy of ±1.0% to ±1.5% of reading across pipes up to 3 meters in diameter. An integrated 2-inch full-port stainless steel ball valve and retractor screw assembly allow safe insertion, depth alignment, and extraction under active hydrostatic pressures up to 25 Bar.
Designed to operate reliably in Iraq's harsh desert environment, the sensor assembly is hermetically sealed to IP68 submersible rating (tested to 10 meters continuous water depth), allowing complete vault flooding during winter storms. The separate or integral digital transmitter features an aluminum explosion-proof enclosure (IP67), high-contrast backlit LCD, Modbus RTU / RS485 communication, 4-20mA analog output, and pulse output for remote SCADA integration. A welding saddle or mechanical tapping sleeve is mounted onto the live pipe. A 2-inch full-port ball valve is bolted on, and a hot-tap drilling machine cuts a hole in the pipe wall through the open valve. After withdrawing the drill and closing the valve, the insertion magmeter assembly is bolted on, the valve is reopened, and the sensor rod is pushed into the water stream to the precise calculated depth.
It can be installed on carbon steel, ductile iron, cast iron, HDPE (using electrofusion or mechanical tapping saddles), and reinforced concrete cylinder pipes (PCCP) using appropriate saddle couplings.
